To Whom It May Concern:

I am trying to use the Coates database to search for Latin American
magazines present in the Coates library. I am wanting to know how to find
these and I am not having any luck. I just need the titles of the magazines
(5 of them).

Answer

Hello,

You mentioned that you are trying to use the Coates database and I'm thinking you are meaning the One Search box in the center of the homepage.  I'm also assuming you are looking for journals published in the Spanish language related to Latin American literature. A way of finding titles is to click on the advanced search link for One Search and select filters that will limit your search.  You can search using search terms latin american literature and select journals under location and Spanish under language. This serarch will pull articles in journals available in the Coates Library.  Citations will contain the journal name within the citation.

This is only one way of searching and it is also possible to locate journal titles by going to the homepage and clicking on the link to books. You can enter the terms you want to use and use an advanced search to limit your search to journals and Spanish.

If you are not able to locate what you need, please come to the library and we will be glad to help you. You can stop at the Library Help & Information Desk, now located at Circulation, and we will help you, or get you to someone who can assist you. A good way of locating the information you need might also be to browse the Current Periodicals located on the 3rd floor of the library behind Java City and we will be glad to help you identify a call number range where you can find the type of journals you need.

Lots of options and lots of ways to get the help you need! Let us know if you have any other questions, or need additional help.
