Q

Alumni access

I have library privileges as an alum.  Am I able to get a password to access the catalog online?  I've tried to do a catalog search and keep getting the log in page.  Please advise.  Maria Watson Pfeiffer

I believe you must be trying to access the catalog through the One Search box, located in the middle of the library homepage. One search is designed to search not only our catalog, but also numerous databases, many of which provide full text articles. Due to licensing issues, we are not able to make most databases available off campus to anyone other than current students, faculty and staff. However, you can still access the catalog off campus. Click on the link to "Books" at the top of the homepage and you will be able to search the catalog thorugh that link.

It is possible for alumni to access our databases in the library, using a guest logon and password that you can get at the Circulation Desk. We also have recently begun offering alumni access to a JSTOR database. Again from the library homepage, click on the link to databases found at the top of the page. You will see a listing of Databases by Type. Click on the link to alumni access and it will give you more information. A special password is required which you can get by calling the circulation desk, or sending a message through asklib.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
